a food-based experiment for july

I hereby declare myself a foodie.

As a self-proclaimed foodie, I have been acquiring "food" into my home for some time. Thanks to the fact that so many of the things are shelf-stable, and aided by the modern conveniences of refrigeration, preservation, and freezers, much of the acquired food is still there! I've accumulated a LOT. It's a little overwhelming.

To begin dealing with this overwhelmedness, I am taking an inventory of the foods in my home. Then, the idea is to use up these existing foods as much as possible over the next month. With a little skill, I am guessing that I can spend extremely little on groceries over the next several weeks and still be rather healthful; I get a box full of veggies every week with my CSA, which is already paid for, and my own veggie garden & fruit bushes are starting to produce for the season. There will probably be some need for meat, poultry, eggs, milk and, of course, ice cream...and possibly some garlic depending on how much I have in the cupboard.

This is a challenge I'm looking forward to very much! And I hope I'll end up with a bit cleaner kitchen & pantry!!
